MYD88 Mutation Testing

Background

The MYD88 p.(Leu265Pro) mutation has been indicated to be the hallmark change in patients with Waldenstrom macroglobulinemia (WM). This mutation is also reported in patients with splenic marginal zone lymphoma (SMZL) and in other B-cell chronic lymphoproliferative disorders.

Testing at WRGL

Amplification specific Polymerase Chain Reaction (AS-PCR) using two sets of fluorescent primers are used to perform this testing. The PCR product can be visualised using GeneMapper software following fragment analysis on the 3130. Genetic Analyser. Positive and negative controls are included in each reaction.
